How To Avoid Kratom Tolerance

How To Avoid Kratom ToleranceDisclaimer: This is not medical or legal advice. The information here (and everywhere else on our website) solely reflects the personal experiences of the authors and is intended for entertainment purposes only. Kratom is not sold or intended for human consumption. Please read our terms & conditions for more information.Like anything else, tolerance CAN occur with consistent and frequent kratom burning.

If kratom incense is burned every single day, there will be some tolerance build-up unless you follow our protocol (non-medical advice, we are just sharing our personal experience).

If you are only burning kratom intermittently (ie. 2 or 3 times a week) you will have very little tolerance regardless. This article does not apply to you.

The word 'tolerance' does not mean that Kratom is highly addictive or dependency-forming. All this means is that if you’re tolerance goes up, you will need to burn more kratom to get the same quality of aroma in your household. This can be completely avoided however.

The good news is that you actually CAN burn kratom every single day, multiple times per day and experience minimal tolerance. You can also easily lower your tolerance if you mess up or already have a pretty high tolerance.

We are about to show you how.

As we've discussed before, there are numerous kratom strains that vary in color and geographic region of origin. These strains can produce different aromas, and are ultimately different from one another.

Kratom tolerance is most likely to occur when the same strain is burned for several consecutive days, over a longer period of time. The people that usually complain about tolerance are the ones who burn the same strain for weeks on end, every single day.

There is a correct way and an incorrect way to burn Kratom and the choice will determine the degree of tolerance one experiences.

How To AVOID Kratom Tolerance In The First Place

We have burned kratom incense for a 4+ years. In the early days, we had absolutely no idea that burning the same strain, day in and day out, would result in annoying tolerance.

The first year was a bit of a waste. Luckily, we quickly learned the correct way to do burn kratom and avoid tolerance shortly afterword.

Most people are completely new to kratom and before they burn it, they want to know how to avoid potential tolerance.

This is the 'secret': In order to avoid tolerance you need to be rotating between several different strains.

You should NEVER burn the same strain on back to back days. You should also NEVER burn multiple strains in any 24 hour period.

One strain per 24 hours period. Don’t burn that specific strain again for 5-7 days.

For example, if you burned White Maeng Da on Tuesday, don’t burn it again on Wednesday or any other day that week. We recommend using a completely different strain the next day, and if you are going to burn Maeng Da again that week you can use Green Maeng Da instead.

Using a strain from the same geographic region more than once a week is fine, so long as you burn different colours (red, white, green) of that strain.

We’ve followed this protocol of 1 strain per 24 hours, only using that strain once a week, and rotating 5-7 strains for about 3 years now.

We have had practically zero tolerance since then.

How To Reduce Pre-Existing Kratom Tolerance

If you don't use the strain rotation protocol above and end up building a little bit of tolerance to kratom, you’ll want to know how to reduce it.

Fortunately kratom tolerance is very easy to get rid of and your receptors can become fresh once again.

You may need to do a reset period if you have some tolerance build-up.

Following the correct rotation, this will not need to be done frequently or at all. A reset may be done every 4 to 6 months, depending on several factors. The basis for ALL reset periods is to completely stop burning kratom for about a week.

When friends of ours stop burning kratom incense abruptly after prolonged use (several months) they sometimes experience mild withdrawal symptoms. The methods below make everything much easier for most people doing a reset.

Method 1: Tapering Down

This is probably the ‘cheapest’ method of reducing one's kratom tolerance but it can take a long time.

The amount of kratom burned is basically reduced in small increments every day until it is at a very low/zero amount. Another week is waited without using any kratom at all. Once the kratom is burned again after that, the aroma is much stronger once again.

The major pro to this is that there are virtually no withdrawal effects while doing it, and it doesn't cost anything extra to do.

The con however is that it takes a while to taper down. It also might not work for some because it requires a lot of diligence and discipline.

Method 2: Imodium (Loperamide)

This stuff is actually spectacular for lowering tolerance in our experience because it allows one to completely stop burning kratom while also avoiding withdrawals.

Personal note: With 5-7 days of not burning any kratom, and instead using loperamide, our receptors are generally good as new.

Imodium alleviates the physical withdrawal symptoms of kratom for us, most notably the gastrointestinal disturbances such as upset stomach and loose stools.

Taken in higher doses, it crosses the blood-brain barrier and can alleviate psychological withdrawal symptoms of kratom that we get (such as anxiety).

We have personally found loperamide to be effective in larger doses, and we had little results from lower doses. To save money, we bought generic Loperamide off Amazon since a lot of it is needed and this method is too expensive to use brand name Imodium.

We don’t use this method for longer than roughly a week. One shouldn’t ever need to however.

Method 3: Stem & Vein Kratom

Stem & Vein is an ‘okay’ method of reducing tolerance to kratom. It is not our preferred method. We have had more success with loperamide.

Stem & Vein kratom is extremely similar to kratom, because it is essentially the stems and veins from the kratom that get ground up instead of discarded.

The alkaloids in the leaf are technically different than those in the leaf, but it is still kratom and there will be quite a bit of cross tolerance.

With that said, using a high quality Stem & Vein WILL lower tolerance at least somewhat. For us, it was never a crazy amount whenever we tried it.

There are some big problems with using stem & vein as the first approach to reducing kratom tolerance.

First, most Stem & Vein kratom is garbage. Most vendors ‘Stem & Vein’ is just old, weaker Bali Kratom. Stem & Vein is not grown as frequently in Southeast Asia. This won’t really reduce tolerance to a great degree.

Roughly 95% + of suppliers throw away the stems and veins because it takes forever to grind them down.

The Stem & Vein that does exist is frequently not ground up enough. It is usually choppy and extremely unpleasant to burn.

Also, Stem & Vein is still kratom. The amount of tolerance reduction is generally much less than what we get from using generic loperamide.

Other Ways To Avoid Kratom Tolerance

We do not recommend these methods. This is just so you know what’s out there and what some people do.

Using Phenibut or any other GABA inhibitor

There is no cross tolerance between stuff like phenibut and kratom as the aromas act upon different receptors.

Phenibut and similar compounds can alleviate the anxiety that arises when stopping kratom (in our experience), but do nothing for the physical withdrawal.

On top of that, we don’t use these compounds for longer than 4-5 days because they are addicting.

Tapering or Loperamide methods are preferred.

Anti-Tolerance ‘Single Strain’ Method

This basically involves choosing one strain that will only ever be burned for breaking tolerance to other strains.

For example, if we were to usually burn fast strains, we would burn nothing but a slow strain like Bali for one week straight and this would somewhat reduce our tolerance to our usual fast strains.

The big drawback to this method is that it doesn’t decrease tolerance nearly as much as other methods, and is virtually useless if we burn strains of all speed regularly.

In our experience, we only used it effectively when we burned nothing but a type of kratom we virtually NEVER use that was also quite different from regular kratom.

Our favorite strain for reducing Kratom tolerance is this one.

Buy Kratom Online Without Worrying About Tolerance/Withdrawal

Avoid Kratom tolerance in the first place and you generally will never need to worry about tolerance or withdrawals.

That is the real secret.

Our rotation protocol discussed above is the very best way to avoid any tolerance. We’ve tried every other way of burning kratom and wasted a lot of time & money in the process.

We left out one very important step you have to take if you want to minimize or outright eliminate potential kratom tolerance.

It is this: If you burn low-quality or mediocre quality kratom, you will need to burn much higher amounts of it to get a decent aroma. This means you are using more kratom.

Your tolerance builds WAY faster with mediocre/low-grade kratom and you spend more money on it in the long-run because of this reason.

The solution, and standard recommendation from all multi-year Kratom burners, is to only use very high quality Kratom.

A lack of a reliable, high quality Kratom source is actually the reason why Herbal Samurai is created.

We carry the highest grade Kratom available on the market today, and we get it to you very quickly.

By using the recommended rotation protocol above and also by only burning very high quality Kratom, you will minimize or completely eliminate any Kratom tolerance.

That's it for today. Follow our (non-medical) advice above and you'll be fine.
